Frequently asked questions

Question: How can your sessions support my teaching of the National Curriculum?

Answer: Our facilitated sessions have been designed around the National Curriculum. Although Lunt sessions are focused on the History curriculum they also have links to other subjects, helping you and your pupils to get maximum benefit from your visit to us. Our sessions are carefully planned and cater for a range of learning styles, with learning outcomes which are listed on the Following in the Footsteps of Soldiers page.

Question: Does the Lunt team offer bespoke learning sessions?

Answer: No, we do not offer bespoke sessions but we are usually able to make adjustments to our standard sessions to meet your particular needs. Please contact us to discuss this before making your booking.

Question: Are the learning sessions adaptable for different age groups and abilities?

Answer: Our learning sessions are designed for Key Stage 2 and can be tailored for different year groups within that range. We welcome visits from SEN groups and are happy to explore how we can deliver our sessions most appropriately for these pupils.

Question: How much does it cost to bring a school group?

Answer: Our facilitated sessions are competitively priced at £4 per pupil (minimum session cost of £120 applies), but why not make a day of it and have a full day for £6 per child (minimum cost £180)?

Question: Why do you charge?

Answer: As an independent charity, and in line with other museums across the West Midlands, we need to offset our costs in order that we can continue to offer opportunities for all and bring history and the arts to life for future generations.

Question: Do you have a risk assessment?

Answer: Teachers are responsible for drawing up a School Risk Assessment in advance of their visit, following education authority and/or DfE guidelines. The Lunt’s model risk assessment, attached in the right hand column, is provided for guidance only.

Question: Are there lunch facilities?

Answer: A lunch space is available in the Lunt’s museum, or you might like to picnic outside if the weather is fine - please discuss lunch arrangements with our staff at the time of booking.

Question: Where can we park?

Answer: The Lunt has dedicated coach parking available for use by visiting schools at no extra cost.
