Opening Hours

10:00 - 15:30 Monday - Friday | For 2018:The Lunt opens on February 26 to schools. The Lunt will be open to public: Thursday 26 July to Friday 31 August (not Monday 27) , Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October. The Lunt closes on Friday 30 November 2018 for winter.

October Half Term: Drawing from the Past

Join us for a week of family friendly fun during October half term!


Tuesday 28 October

Roman Portraits
10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Join our resident artist in drawing a Roman Soldier from a model dressed in first century clothes.  You will have a number of different media to work with.  There will be a number of poses through the day and time to work up your pictures.

Wednesday 29 October

Outside Landscapes
10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30pm – 3.30pm
Join our resident artist in drawing the landscape of the Lunt Roman Fort. These include the unique reconstructions and the landscape as you imagine it was 2000 years ago. We also have the opportunity to draw one of the denizens of the first century landscape… a badger.

Thursday 30 October

Drawing from the Lunt Roman Fort Frieze                      10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30pm – 3.30pm 
Join our resident artist in re-imagining the frieze at the Lunt Roman Fort. Using a variety of media, visitors will take inspiration from the copy of Trajan’s column to create their own battle scenes.

Friday 31 October

Drawing Roman Armour and Weaponry

Join our resident artist in still life drawings of replica Roman Armour and weapons.
