Step into the World of Roman Soldiers: A Family Campout at Lunt Roman Fort
Join us on Saturday 7 March 2026 for an unforgettable overnight experience at the historic Lunt Roman Fort.
Travel back nearly 2,000 years to AD 60, where Roman soldiers once lived, trained, and built their legacy.
This family campout offers a dynamic, playful adventure filled with history, creativity, and connection. Bring your own tent or hire one from us and spend the night in a cosy Roman fort beneath the stars.

Archery: Practise focus and coordination while learning to shoot arrows safely under guidance.
Battle Drill: Test your strategy and teamwork with Roman-style combat games.
Roman Builder Challenges: Work together to recreate Roman-style structures like bridges and ramparts.
Ghost Hunt: Discover the story of an untold Roman soldier as you explore the site.
Crafts: A range of Roman-inspired crafts will be available for you to explore.
Snacks on Fire: Make your own S’mores or chocolate filled bananas on the fire.
Leisure Corner: Relax with Roman-themed games and books.

Note: Please bring your own meals and snacks. Food delivery is welcome, and cooking is permitted using raised fire pits. Fire pits must be raised at least 18 inches off the ground to prevent heat damage.

3.30pm | Arrival and safety briefing
4pm - 8pm | Main activity session (Activities will run throughout this time - Feel free to dip in and out, and make time to set up your tent and have something to eat when it suits you.)
8pm - 10pm | Free time and wash up (Music will be playing in the Gyrus if you'd like to burn off some energy.)
10pm | Quiet time (Extra lights will be turned off. Fire pits must be fully extinguished by this time.)
Before 9am (next morning) | Wake up, pack, and leave the site. (If you’ve rented one of our tents, we’ll carry out a tent check before you go. Please ensure the tent is clean and in good condition. -

Basic ticket: £30/person
Tent hire: £10 - £30 per tent: (2-person tent: £10 per tent | 4- person tent: £20 per tent | 8-person tent: £30 per tent)
Campfire bundle: £28 (Includes one bag of burning logs, a fire pit, kindling, firelighters, a lighter, a grill, a pair of fire-resistant gloves and a water gun for extinguishing the fire.)
Extra burning logs & kindling: £10/bag (You’re welcome to bring your own logs. For safety reasons, we ask that branches are not collected from the surrounding woodland for burning.)

Cancellation and Refund
Tickets are non-transferable.
If you wish to cancel your ticket, you must notify us by email no later than 23:59 on 28 February 2026 to be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations received after this deadline will not be refunded.
If we cancel due to extreme weather, a full refund will be issued.

Minimum adult-to-child ratio is 1:10.
Tent hire requires self-pitch and dismantling (support available). Tent checks required before departure.
Fire pits must meet the English Heritage requirement of being at least 18 inches off the ground.
For safety reasons, we ask that branches are not collected from the surrounding woodland for burning.
Children must be supervised at all times, including overnight.
Adults are responsible for night-time care of their children (toilets, reassurance, etc.).
CV Life staff will be available overnight for emergencies and access support.

Most sessions are outdoor; please dress appropriately for the weather.
Activities will go ahead unless weather is extreme.
CV Life is not responsible for lost personal items.
No re-entry once inside, except for emergencies.
Please leave the site clean and tidy.
Alcohol and smoking are not permitted.
CV Life venues are inclusive and safe learning environments. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
Participants are responsible for any damage caused to museum property.
